NESTLE QUICK.

January 27, 2007

I wrote this one after hearing the story from a buddy of mine—one of those medics who’s been around long enough to carry equal parts wisdom and wild tales. This wasn’t my call, but I wish it had been. It had everything: chaos, comedy, cuffs, and just enough unpredictability to remind you why every shift starts with "expect the unexpected." Sometimes the stories we tell in EMS aren’t about saving lives—they’re about surviving the absurd. And this one? It’s about a meth-fueled fugitive, a bottle of chocolate milk, and the moment you realize no amount of protocol prepares you for that. I wrote it because, in a job soaked with trauma, these stories are the ones that keep us laughing—because if we don’t, we’ll drown.
